222 range trip
« on: May 27, 2012, 06:03:51 PM »
I finally got my 222 out to the range yesterday. I was shooting reloads I had left over from my last 222 ( none near max loads) and I'm pretty excited about it. My 70gn speer bullets were shooting into 1.5" at  100 yds with the wind gusting up to about 7mph, the 55 and 35gn bullets did almost as well. I had so much fun I used up all the ammo I had with me, about 35 shots in 4 different loadings. I saw an increase in velocity with each loading also but I'm attributing most of that to the temperature difference between when I shot them. I think with some tinkering I'll have a good shooter here!

Sounds like a nice cartridge to mess about with. Best news is the rifle is only likely to get better for you.
