TDC Barrels
« on: June 10, 2012, 11:53:12 AM »
I understand the TDC is no longer being made. Are there any chances of getting a factory fit barrel,or just keep my fingers crossed for something in the classifieds.
Secondly, better to send it back in or try to fit it at home?

You'd have to check availability by calling H&R toll free, (866)776-9292.

Smoke,
I own two of them, Both 20 ga. One I used for about two years as my go to gun. Small game/ bird use and a very good choice for wingshooting. The reason I no longer use it is becuase I hunt rabbits with beagles and it is too long. I purchased a 20 ga. compact with screw in chokes and added walnut stock and sling which is and awesome bunny buster. The other my wife uses as her go to smallgame gun and she still uses it. It has a walnut jr. classic stock on it.
Enjoy!

Frog,
I would love to have a 18-20" with the vent rib and screw in chokes . I am stuck on the rib so I can mount slug sights with no major mods to the gun . Does the factory make such an animal ? I know that part of the fun with these is being able to make what you want . I would give up the ideal length to have something i could screw on sights for deer , tight choke for gobblers , or improved for in your face bunnies or doves .

They only offer the TDC vent rib barrels in 28", they're listed on the accessory barrel page, a little gunsmithing could make what you want tho.  ;)

I could cut it down and have choke tubes redone . However I already have one getting tubes installed now . I was practically given a Stevens 258b 20ga bolt gun . No one around here wants those old bolt shotguns . For a back up, loaner, or starter . I think they are great .When they are dirt cheap i buy all of them i find .
This thing couldnt hit a 4x8 sheet of plywood with slugs . I cut it to just over 18" and started shooting silly small groups at 50yds . After I cut it down , I really liked the way it handled so..it was  off to have choke tubes put in . I figure less than $150 for a great little do all gun cant be bad right ? $130 of that is choke work .
I will give the factory a call in the next day or so to check on the TDC barrels. If they are in stock I will post it here .
