I've been using it for four years and it is now the only kind I use. It really is "that!" good. For example:
1) I had been using FP10 on my pardini 45 and then decided I'd try Army red lube. Before I started using the red lube there was no wear on the slide, as evidenced by the black finish still being intact. Within 200 rounds of using red lube, some of the finish had worn through to bare metal. I switched back to FP10 and the area of wear stopped getting bigger. The red lube I prepared had Mobil-1 synthetic oil as its base.
2) The stuff works in cold temperatures. Other lubes thicken and affect ejection in cold weather.
3) Every year for years we would bring out Squeaky The Box Fan during the summer, lube it with oil, and run it for a few days. It would always start sqeaking again after a few days and we maybe lubed it again and ran it some more. A few years ago I lubed it with FP10 instead of household oil and it has not squeaked since. We run it all summer long, nearly full-time.
4) It's great in a 1911 target pistol because it migrates to unlubed areas during firing. You can always add a little more during your shooting session without removing the slide.
I will not use another gun oil.
For grease I use Wilson Combat white grease, and Brownell's Action Lube, both excellent products as well.
I also use Hoppes dry lube, a spray. This is great for some trigger mechanisms that need lubrication. It's a teflon lube.
