Gun show this weekend what are current good deals?
« on: December 27, 2002, 07:38:28 AM »
   There is a gun show in Ft. Worth this week end. What are some typical prices for a solid shooter Mosin Nagant?  I have reviewed the shotgun news and watched this fourm so I have an idea, but I have not applied for my C&R yet but want to start with someting good but inexpensive.  I have seen M-44 for about 45-55 dollars in VG shape in the "News", but did not know what these bring at shows.  I am not looking for the deal of a lifetime or a tack driver, just a solid 100-200 yard gun that I would not be afraid to use.  I have also seen the Turkias Mausers on the cheap also.  How are they when compared to a Nagant.  This first one needs to be cheap so I can convince the wife that this is a good hobby.  Also what are the obvious scams to look for, I have a good gun collection, but have never been to a show. Thank, Dave

I notice prices at some shows it may be better to wait for your C&R FFL. But M44 mosins are in the $39.95 to $59.95 range.(SOG) The turkish 8mm mausers are from $39.95 good condition to $59.95 very good condition some dealers still have them but the supply is drying up and as the supply dries up the quality gets worse too so no time to wait buy buy buy!!!!! The market is flooded right now with M44's there is many manufactures russian, polish, hungarian, Romanian all in the same price range. But there is new unissued russian M44's for $99.95 at SOG. When you get your C&R FFL you can price shop between Century arms, Southern Ohio Gun, Samco Global Arms, Aim, and FAC (gunsnstuff) are the good ones. You have to watch who's the wholesaler and who's the dealer selling for cheaper prices and trust no one(dealers). To me dealers and car salesman are the same. For parts its numrich gun parts corp, tapco and sarco are good too I may have left some out(its been a tough day today) but the info i gave you should help you out most stuff here in the northeast at gun shows is high priced but like anything else you have to shop around and now is the best time to get your C&R FFL because most (dealer cost)prices you pay now were list prices 25 years ago. So its still a bargain on somethings. Lets us know how it goes at the show I wish I was going but its too far.                                                             BigBill :D

 Thanks for the reply.  I will let you know what I find on Monday.  I am new so I may pass the but of a lifetime but those are the breaks.  I now wish I had not put off the C&R paperwork, but life is hectic and that the first  thing to get pushed aside.  If I find a good bore and decent stock I have to bring somthing home, because these things are just too cheap to pass up.  Thanks again, Dave

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you, but htere were no deals to be found.  There were a couple of Nagants, a couple of Yugo Mausers, and some I had not seen yet, but the rifles I saw were almost double the shotgun news prices.  I guess I will have to fill out the C&R.

Check out the ammo cans - prices are pretty consistent on them.
