Hakim Scope Mount Idea
« on: June 11, 2012, 02:14:29 PM »
Scoping the Hakim seems to be an insoluable problem...or so many think.

I think I have it figured out.  The hand guard is a one piece of wood that is held in place at the receiver end where it is inserted, by a middle barrel band and front barrel band.  You remove the middle and front barrel bands, slide them forward and  lift up the hand guard from the muzzle end and pull it forward to remove it from the grooves in the front of the receiver.

Now...make an injection molded one piece handguard, just like the wooden original, but mold in a picatinny  rail on the top of it so that an intermediate eye relief (Scout Scope) could be mounted directly to the top of the new handguard.   The Picatinny rail would be integral to the handguard.

Anybody have any ideas about this?

Igm:  The Hakim and the Swedish Ljungman, the AG-42B are pretty much the same rifle except in in different calibers.  I have two Ljungmans that appear to have been drilled and tapped for a scope mount.  Three open holes are found on the left side of the action just below the stock line near the front of the action; you don't see them untill you remove the stock.  Each rifle is d&ted slightly differently but it appears to be in the same style to mount a base as the current crop of AK or older WWII Mauser scope mounts - 3 screws hold the base and you slide your scope mount into the base and lock it down.  A gunsmith could probably mount a system like that to your action.  Good luck.

Howdy,
I recently saw a Hakim on auctionarms with a scope installed. The guy had a piece of plate steel screwed to the left side of the receiver with a Weaver rail mounted to the plate above the action. There was a scope mounted with low rings to the rail. It was positioned over the bore and, while it looked like hell, appeared to be a solid installation.

Hey Bob:  now that you mention that style mount/base, 1911 Crazy once tried making one like that up for his Hakim.  I hope he chimes in, I would like to see how he did with it.

I have a hakim/ljungman scopemount that was offered for these two rifles many years ago.  Its a side plate that has the scope ring grooves in it.   You need to cut out the stock to make it fit the receiver. This was manufacturered by a company who made scopemounts for all the military rifles back then.

Many years ago i ordered a russian svt-40 scopemount thru a company and they got it from B square.  I'm thinking maybe b square could have one inhouse?
I asked my local cnc shop to make some but he wanted a large confirmed order.  I had three or four who wanted one.
