Rem Mod 710 Bolt Prob
« on: August 29, 2012, 05:02:35 AM »
I have 3 remmington mod. 710 an on 1 of them the bolt locks down sometimes when I try to lift it when chambering a round. Remmington doesn"t seem very cooperative seems like it is safety hanging it up. Any ideas on a safe fix?

I don't fully understand..The bolt locks down when the saftey is engaged? Whatever the case Remington is usually very helpful when anything affects safety. This guns construction makes repairs touchy...

No when the safety is off the bolt will lock down and you have to take gun apart to unlock and these are rifles that have as few as 1 round fired through them.

What is actually holding the bolt closed?

I"m not sure I think it has something to do with the safety. I think this is one of the problems remmington had with this model remmington wasn"t very helpful. I found this out checking other web sites.

Really have no experience with the 710.. and nothing leaps out from the parts blowups... Perhaps it has to do with tolerance issues between the outer receiver housing and the inner... Might allow the cocking cam to not pick up the striker? I hate say this but it sounds as if Remington might be the only game in town...
