Point of impact hard vs soft

Does say air cooled ww at 12 bhn impact target much different than hard say 25 BHN given same wieght charge etc.? High or low?

GOOD question.  You've singled out ONE characteristic - it would be an easy test too.  Anyone done it? It would also answer the question of how hardness (for a given alloy) affects velocity for a given set of circumstances.

Matt, since velocity is tied to pressure and 25 bhn is harder than 12 you MIGHT see a very slight difference. You would most likely get as much difference in the loads from individual differences in the components (brass, powder,etc.)IT does how ever give you an excuse to shoot up a bunch of ammo :wink: .  jh

Most guns, the point of impact is the same or very close, but sometimes can change a few inches. You have to test each gun and see how each reacts.

depends on how you get your hardness. A bullet cast out of wheelweights will shoot to a different poa then one cast out of lynotype because of the weight difference. I have shot bullets out of ww and out of heat treated ww and if theres a difference in poa its not much.
