Shoot the revolver taco style

I just put a 7X rifle scope on my S&W M16, since I couldn't see much or hit much with the 2X pistol scope on it. I picked up a pair of welding gloves to wear one on my left hand to shield it and my wrist  from the blast, and am looking forward to seeing how that works for hunter's pistol. I can hold it a lot steadier and it looks good dry firing, but remains to be seen how it works with live ammo on silhouettes.

Anybody else here try this? Were you able to shoot it well without burning yourself?

I wouldn't try this with a bigger caliber, but that 32 H&R is pretty mild with no real recoil.

I would bench the revolver with a big piece of paper on the side where you will hold it and fire a few rounds to see where the powder burns are in reality.  You will quickly see if you will be burning other areas not covered by the glove.

I tried it today and it worked fine. The scope is an old Redfield TV view one with pretty short eye relief, but with the light recoil of the 32 it wasn't a problem. The glove got a little black, but it didn't hurt a bit. I was able to hit a 6 inch steel disc at 100 yards fairly frequently, much better than I normally would be able to with a normal hold. Now it's time to try it in a real match!

Most I have seen do that hold the scope with the off hand. But if you do it might be wise to add a shield in the glove that directly covers the cyl gap like leg protectors have made of metal or heavy plastic .

I shot it in a match for the first time today. Final score was a 28. That's 9 points better than I had ever shot that revolver, and I got my 10 Ram pin with it to finish! The only drawback is my left arm is now peppered with little red spots from powder grains. Evidently I need to wear a long sleeve shirt as well as the glove for doing this. But otherwise it works awesome, I think I'll keep it.

The other change was bullets - I just got a Ranch Dog TL-313-115-FN mould. That thing is great! I made up 600 bullets in just about an hour yesterday, so I loaded up a box of them for the match. They shoot amazingly well and sized to .313" fit my S&W's throats perfectly. I got the plain base option, cast them soft from air cooled wheelweights and lubed them with the lubrisizer even though they're a tumble lube design. If you don't know about Ranch Dog, check him out. He has some really good bullet designs.
