Here's my take on smoking bans.

Most of them are started by citizens who get out and make up petitions and then promote their cause, get people to vote for their cause and get their smoking bans to pass.  Most smoking bans pass because people are tired of choking on other peoples bad habbits.  The town i go to for shopping, recreation ect... tried to pass a smoking ban and it failed.  I was really hoping the people would be in favor of it.  Smoking bans are a great example of people making changes on the local level.
I'm voting 3rd party in this election by writing in Jesus Christ for president.  Sadly even if this were an option most of you would still vote Republican because "It's a two party system."

SSS, while as a former smoker, I can agree with what you stated, where does the private owners right end, and the public's begin. I certainly agree with smoking area's in public area's like malls and govt. buildings, why make a bar/restaurant owner lose business. Public building's are a different matter. If a bar owner wants to cater to customers that smoke, let him. It's his/her business. If they lose business because people go to a non-smoking establishment, it's their worry. Big signs on the enterence stating weather smoking is allowed or not, should tell potential customers if they want to enter or not. Stepping on private individual rights on private land shouldn't happen. gypsyman

I agree with that statement gypsy.  That being said I would much prefer to give my business to somebody who bans smoking in their establishment.
