Compelling video. Z doesn't sound anything like the the racist white cracker gunslinger the press made him out to be.

Listening to Mr. Martin's 911 call reporting a "Missing Person" gave me pause (as a Father of a wilful teenage boy). Not a call any parent wants to make. Teenagers get messed up emotionally in a divorce or separation and messed up even more on the mean streets in Miami. He was a physically big young man and more than likely had a huge chip on his shoulder - and not of Zimmerman's making. Still the Martin's, and the Nation, will have to face the spotlight on Trayvon as the aggressor with "Justifiable Homicide" as a distinct possibility. It will be interesting to watch the Race Baiters and Haters in the aftermath of an acquittal verdict.

I am more seriously concerned about the City Fathers of Sanford's lack of a collective backbone in the firing of their Sheriff. Who would ever want to take that job knowing that no one is there to watch your back.

Yes, Trayvon in some ways is a victim of our current culture and some of his bitterness is understandable. However, that doesn't mean a public spirited citizen such as G Zimmerman should be a willing punching bag for Trayvon's frustrations.
As I see it , there are two living, guilty parties here...

1) The Sanford PD..for failing to back their police cheif when he likely acted entirely within the law.
2) The various and sundry "prejudice pimps"..

There is a TREMENDOUS amount of scuttlebutt that is being tossed around locally as if it was the truth. Only two people know for sure and one of them is silent forever.

I doubt if Zimmerman can get a fair trail in Central Florida, much less any PART of Florida at this point. Who HASN'T heard of Martin and Zimmerman? It is on every radio and TV station. The Media loves to mix it up and sell it. They're even on the front line of dissemination of false and misleading information. Now whay doesn't that surprise me?

Everything he says in the re-inactment sounds very plausible to me except the part where he says Martin hit him 25-30 times ... I think he looks too good for that to be true. Anyone who has been in or witnessed a bare-knuckle fight knows what the results usually are. Then if he lied about that part of the story, was that the only stretch of the truth?
I also think a fair trial is impossible from either viewpoint...

those who've been in them know also that lots of shots glance off/don't connect, you can't really count when your heart rate is redlined and all that usually happens in a very few seconds... we're hearing what it seemed like, I'll speculate.

Good advice. Here's a thought: when he went and re'enacted what happened for the cops, he was thinking... "if I just explain to them what happened, they'll get it and it'll be okay" - when he should have been understanding, "these guys are not my friends, they are looking for evidence to use against me, not to exonerate - shuttup and ASK FOR A LAWYER"

The video was taken a day after the altercation. He had not been charged with anything at htis time. The cops beleived him and they did not charge him. So the video in the end will likely work well for Z.

I read a report that said Zimmerman was 5'9" tall (no weight given) and Martin was 6'2" and 170#. But I suppose you can get nearly any height/weight combination for either of them...depending upon who is writing the piece and what their agenda is.
There is the factor of Martin having drugs in his system. like it or not, if someone wants to maintain credibility, they should eschew drugs of any kind.

That's silly; it'll only matter to those with an axe to grind, or not too well informed. PR points. Drugs in his system... could mean that he was very lightly high, or stoned at the time, or was a couple weeks back. They prob used blood test, if so, that would indicate very recent use (as opposed to urinalysis). Doesn't mean he was scoundrel or should have been shot (beating the hell out of Zimmerman was enough on that score).

Drugs in his system doesn't indicate culpability for anything other than drug use, one way or the other. And if we're talking about pot... if anything, he'd be less likely to be confrontational (well, most are when buzzed)

Well, I don't mind admitting I do have an axe to grind..

I do have an axe to grind:

For every child who goes hungry because the adult in his/her life needs drugs more than food.

For every convenience store clerk robbed, or shot, or killed..by an addict needing more drugs

For every family who loses a loved one due to a drunk or drugged driver

For every woman forced to do immoral things to support somebody's habit

For every child who is neglected in their normal parental needs..to a drug induced, drowsy or violent parent

For Brian Terry and his family, murdered by criminals supplying a "need" for other criminals.

For a culture becoming more and more coarse, in a large part because of the "drug culture".

.....I also have an "axe to grind" with any grown man who chooses to support such a criminal activity and ingest, smoke or otherwise absorb (0n a voluntary basis) foreign chemicals into their body, to the detriment of others... as explained above.
Can they not "man up" and find their relaxation and entertainment through normal channels ? Are they so dependent that they have no compunction in supporting the killer cartels...such as the one who killed Brian Terry ?
Not to mention the 50,000 or so Mexican nationals murdered in the rampage brought on entirely by North American "habits".
Is there no personal conscience and responsibility involved here ?

The TRAGEDY here is all of the social undercurrents leading up to this event. Nothing adjudicated here is going to solve ANY of those issues.

1. Ever see Mike Tyson hit someone so hard they fell to their back? Me neither but Marty did it

2. If Marty straddled him and was banging Zimmie's head on the concrete seems like Marty's legs would be covering the holstered gun at Zimmie's waist

How could Marty simultaneously be in position to bang Zimmie's head on the ground and also see a gun at his waist.

3. He was attacked and was reaching for his phone to call 911.

4. Amazing recovery for someone losing consciousness

5. It's pretty hard to hold someone on their back just by sitting on them. Even weinie arms Zimmie should have been able to roll over (natural reaction) if he was being pummeled into submission.

6. The hands over the mouth and nose part. Sure!

Of course this is all speculation on my part. Can't wait for the forensics verification on this one!
