270 Win rifle today for Father's Day
« on: June 17, 2012, 10:55:33 AM »
Well I finally found me something to spend my gift cards to Gander Mountain on.  Found a 270 Handi rifle for 179 before tax used.  Well I used my three gift cards and now have a rifle for the grand total of 58 dollars.  Now for a scope and ammo. Hope it shoots good considering the nut behind the rifle. ;D

Well went to the range today before the heat set in with less than stellar results.  I got rifle close to point of aim at 25 yards with a simmons 4x32 I had laying around.  Then I moved to 75 where it was high (4+inches). I then tried to bring point of aim down only to have my windage wander.  Oh well let my shoulder heal and I shall return.  I didnt realize a 270 14 times would make the shoulder tender.  Oh well at least I have a project to work on now. :D

Mine shoots great. If you reload try h4895 with 130 hor sp 1 grain under start load listed by hodgan powder. Nice load at about 2550 ft second. Going to try some 110 sierra pro hunters also.
