M-48 Mauser Heavy Bolt Lift

I've noticed very heavy bolt lift on M-48 8x57's after a few rounds and have read that this is a common complaint about M-48's. Does anyone else know anything about this?

Could be a number of things. Overly heavy striker spring, cocker sear has burrs or mis-alignments. Then there is the nasty possibility of lug set-back in the receiver from the receiver being soft. Also maybe you are just not used to the mauser action. It is different than most commercial actions and takes some getting used to if you cut your teeth on Remingtons.

LGM. Remove the bolt then thoroughly clean the locking lug recesses in the receiver then clean the bolt (inside and out) and grease (not oil) the rear of the locking lugs, the cocking cam ect. Try that and let us know-S22

First clean the chamber and bolt lug area in the receiver squeeky clean. Now disassembly the bolt and clean it squeeky clean and lube it with moly of a gun grease lightly. Lube the cams so it can reset much easier.

A roughly machined or pitted chamber can cause it.

And, of course, depends on the ammunition being used. If you are using ex-mil Turk ammo, that stuff is loaded hot and tight bolts aren't unusual. Factory American ammo is at the other end of the scale and is very light.
