hard to find ball/minie molds
« on: July 02, 2012, 09:22:44 PM »
i recently purchased a 69 cal 1842 springfield rifled musket made by armisport and from my understanding these rifles have oversized barrels (around 0.696). this makes finding ammo a little tough. dixiegunworks offers a .694 minie ball which ive been told is perfect for these rifles, however they are out of stock and told me they dont know when they will get more. a guy on the muzzle loading forum says hes got a mold which produces .683 balls which perform great... but he has no idea who made his mold or where i can get another one.

does any one have an idea where i might get molds for .683 balls and .694 minies?

does any one out there make custom molds?

maby i could have someone make me molds for these rounds. thanks all

There is a guy that makes custom molds for round balls, he advertises in Muzzle Blast...I'll try to find his info later in the week if someone else doesn't chime in...

A fellow in the UK makes bullet molds to order on a CNC lathe and cuts the cavities.  I understand he will make whatever you send a diagram of and for a reasonable price to boot.
