I'd be lying if I said "Andy Taylor" had no effect on my life.  He the only other single dad I "knew" as a child.  I am pretty sure he helped me better appreciate my dad after he and my mom divorced.  I was only 4, but I remember my dad LOVED the show and we watched it almost every weekend I went to his house.  Aunt Bee was a spitting image of my grandmother (who moved in with my dad after the divorce...while she tried to fight cancer).


My ALL TIME favorite episode was when Andy helps Aunt Bee out with her "medicine man":

I find it hard to believe that Andy Griffith was anything short of a great man in real life as well.  You sure don't find celebrities today of his caliber.


He will be missed, and I guarantee my son will enjoy watching his re-runs with me just as much as I enjoyed them as a child.

I never felt he got the recognition he should have for his acting ability. He was excellent in a comedy role. I also saw him play a BAD guy once although I have forgotten the title of the show. He did just as good as the heavy as any of his good guy roles.

I liked Andy for his work on the AGS and No Time For Sergeants...... however he was a lifelong Democrat and supported left leaning causes.    In 2008 he got together with Ron "Opie" Howard and filmed a series of Get Out the Vote commercials supporting The Great Imposter and Joe Biden........ :( :-[ :-\

loved that guy and his shows always funny fine actor. he  is greatly missed. :-[

It is still one of the best shows on TV.  We still try to peel apples without breaking the string of peeling.  I always like trying to figure the guns in the rack, they changed.  I know some of you could read the serial numbers, but not me.


I think he was above marching in lock step with any viewpoint, as we all should.

I liked Andy when I was a kid.
But after seeing him back obama I couldn't care less about him .
Sorta like if you could look past his politics,,, Hitler was a nice guy that loved dogs.
