Talk me out of buying a Pacific 366
« on: July 11, 2012, 02:28:16 PM »
I have an opportunity to buy a Pacific 366 in 20 gauge for a good price ($125.00) I already have all the powder and shot bushings for Pacific presses..Ive got two DL155s and 105..BUT have never had a 366

Anything I need to know about this press? I am not a high volume shotgun shooter..

I've had a grand total of two. Trust me I will never own a third.

The first was when I was half owner of a skeet/trap range. My partner and I bought two with business funds to load 12 and 20 gauge. It didn't take me long to decide it wasn't for me so he wound up with both.

The second was sent to me by Hornady to do a product review. It was in .410 and I was never able to get it to load even one single hull.

Buy it if you wish but I'd not take another for free.

Good enough for me. I am going to try to find either some lee loaders or buy some of the Lane reloaders.

I don't shoot enough shotgun ammo to even justify setting my presses up.

I had one for long enough to load about 200 shells.  Major problems include, when shot is spilled, the rotary plate on the bottom jams to the point the machine needs disassembly--about a ten minute delay.  I didn't have the auto powder/shot dispenser shutoff, so when an interruption in process happened, a mess occured.

I sold mine for about 200 bucks, so if I was presented with a 100 or so rebuy opportunity, I'd give it another go in case I got a lemon the first time around.

i have a mec 9000g and load 300-400 shells a week and like it.  it has its quirks but i have learned to live with them, i like the fact that i can insert a case and a wad, pull the handle and out comes a loaded round. i would like to see a dillon and a rcbs shotgun loader in action as i may get a new loader in the future. eastbank.
