I have a Remington 700 rebarrelled to 6mm BR. As the bolt is withdrawn, the fired case is pushed into the inside of the reciever wall by the ejector. Is there any reason this part along with the spring cannot be removed? After neck turning the cases, I don't want them damaged.

A M-1 is the world's worst about that very thing & we have to just put up with it. On the 700 I don't know. Pose your question on the gunsmith portion of the Frontier Spot if there is no answer to be had on this BB.

You can remove the ejector and spring but you can't have sausage fingers if you're gonna pluck 'em out through the ejection port!

My friend Rick Taylor shot a 30-378 in a SHORT action Rem 700 for his BR gun. He just removed the boltstop altogether and pulled the bolt with the spent brass still under the extractor right out the back of the receiver each shot. Of course, he had removed the ejector so the brass stayed put during all this. At one time he held the 1000 yard world record with that rifle, so I guess he knew what he was doing!

i pulled the ejector and spring from my son,s 722 rem. i think the 700 is the same set up. bobby olson

If you pull the ejector you have a hole that brass can flow into. Another solution is to get a second spring and trim coils off till it barely pushes on the case.
