Remington Sendero

I am thinking about purchasing a Remington Sendero for my 300 yd. hunting blind stand. I've heard that this gun is pretty accurate and is it worth $ 1300.00 to buy? I want it  in 7mm mag caliber. THANKS, hawkenman

$1300 seems kind of high. There are lots of rifles that will fill your needs cheaper,but maybe you deff. want that model? Have you considered a 270wsm?

I have a Remington 700 7 mm with a 3x9 Leupold scope.Lightened up the trigger made sure the barrel was fitting stock ok and have not touched nothing in 30 years.I consider it a 300 yard rifle for a lot less than $1300. Good luck.

Same here.  My pet bolt gun is a 700 BDL in lowly 7mm-08 caliber, and 300 yards is no problem.  Sendero country starts at about 500 yards.  This is basically a Wimbledon gun in field garb.

senderos are pricey. But if i had to buy a rifle with an added wager that it must shoot 3/4 inch groups or id loose it, the sendero is the gun id buy. Ive yet to see a poor shooting sendero. One in 7mag would be all the rifle id ever need for the rest of my life if i could only have one. Sure you might get luck and find a gun at half the price that shot as well but then again you could easily get stuck with a dud in that price range too.

I had one in 2506 and one in 300 WM both were good shooters . One was sold to a guy who went to IRAN a captian in the Army. He had shot it and wanted it. I was glad to accomidate him. Hope it did well. The other got sold because I had a BDL that shot as well and was a gift from wife and son. 300 yards is not so far really . A good 308 will work well in a 700 police model or heavy bbl. if cost is an issue. I got a use 700 HB in a green plastic stock . Picked up a HS percision stock for it at a gun show . It shoots as well as the sendros I had did. I haveabout $775.00 or so in it.

Sendero's are great guns, but if you are wanting a 300 yard gun any standard 700 BDL will give you all of that and more.  300 yards is really a chip shot these days.  I have a 7mm-08 700 Mountain Rifle that I have done a little work on that easily shoots 500 yards accurately.

I have a plain vanilla 700 ADL 270 that will roll whitetails all day long at 300 yds.  My Mod 7 308 with a 20" barrel will do the same.  I am not a fan of long barrels because I hunt inside box stands and I need to be quiet.  Long barrels are not needed and are an unnecessary problem for me.  Love my 25-06 but too long.  Same for my 7mm Mag, and 280 Ack.  I have a 300WSM that is OK but too much rifle for deer - better for elk.  A litte 243 Featherweight that was my son's first rifle may come out of the closet soon.
 
Never owned a Sendero.  Like the idea when they first appeared, but now I favor lighter, shorter rifles at my age.  No longer a velocity freek.

Charles P, I agree 100%.  Love those short, quick rifles like the model seven.

   The sendero's are a pretty awesome rifle.  My best friend bought one new a few years ago when they were chambered in 264 win mag.  He absolutely loved it, until the weight got to him.  He still owns it but switched to a blued, fluted CDL for most of his hunting needs.  I would have to agree with the other guys about short barrels.  My go to hunting rifles have either 20 or 22 inch barrels and I practice regularly out to 400 yds.  Whatever you decide, enjoy your new shooter.

all things equal with a short bbl you trade away velocity . You gain less weight and less time the bullet is in the bbl and affected by gun movement.
