I had a .45 cal long rifle with a 42" Green Mtn bbl with a 1 in 66" twist.  I used the lubed .44/.45 cal Wonder Wads under the patched round balls, and performance was definitely enhanced.  More consistent accuracy, plus you could shoot many rounds before having to wipe or brush the bore.  If you're using a thin patch, they're great for preventing burn-through of the patch....

yes and no and sometimes.

In my Kodiak .54x.54 yes definately a performance enhancer.  In my Hawken, no tried it, no advantage was found, so I don't with this rifle.  My .32 flintlock I am getting mixed results.  The .32 has turned in 5 shot groups all touching, both with and without an extra wad, but then it has also turned in groups that are best called patterns with and without the wads.  In this case powder compression seems to be critical, as does the amount of powder in the pan.

I find all of my round ball guns give me tighter groups without wads.
But I use and unlubed wad when I load for hunting to prevent patch lube from contacting the powder because the load may be in there quite a while.

NO, no advantage just a lot of extra trouble.  If you want more accuracy, PRACTICE.
