Can I Safely Increase Trigger Pull on my 1997?
« on: July 21, 2012, 06:27:26 PM »
I purchased a slightly used 97 in .41 magnum.  It is a great shooter, with an excellent trigger -- no creep and an amazingly crisp break.  The problem is that the the trigger pull is a consistent 1.5 lbs, which is too light for me in a carry gun.  After 860 rounds I still occasionally have one go off before I expect it to.
Can I increase the trigger pull safely without sending it in, or is this something that will require me to be without it for a bit?
Thanks,
EKG

A heavier trigger return spring?

Mine did that and it had a broken trigger spring. I sent it back and they had it back to me in a couple weeks.

Yep, you folks were correct.  I called FA and they immediately diagnosed the problem as a broken trigger spring.

Thanks for the help -- people here clearly know what they are doing!
