It’s time for the 3rd Annual GBO Miniature Cannon Club Postal shoot. This shoot is to carry on the tradition of miniature cannon shooting as practiced by the South African Miniature Cannon Club, Durban, South Africa. All shooting shall be done “ in the spirit of the original".
This year there will be two matches-spring and fall. The Spring match opens February 4th and runs until June 5. The Fall match runs June 5th until October 7th. Fall Match cancelledBecause the fall match has been cancelled I am extending the Spring match deadline until July 8. This shoot is for smooth bore model Cannons and will have two divisions.
- Division 1 is for miniature cannons under .800 caliber shooting round ball projectiles using black powder.
- Division 2 for cannons of .800 to no more than 2 inch smooth bore caliber and less than ¼ scale.
Course of fireSix shots on a B17 target. This target is also known as the 25/50 Meter, Slow Fire, UIT Precision Target, or NRA Muzzle Loading.
MatchTwo targets, 6 shots on each.
ScoringThe best 5 shots on each target are scored. Shots touching the line scores the higher value. Targets with more than 6 shots will be disqualified.
Range- Division 1 guns shoot at 25 yards/meters.
- Division 2 guns shoot at 50 yards/meters
Sights, aiming device s and equipment- Division 1 Guns cannot have or use sights.
- Division 2 Guns may have sights but they must be in keeping with the spirit of the traditional".
Muzzle aiming disks and target spots are allowed for aiming in both divisions.
Breech rope/recoil restraints are allowed, but guns cannot be tied down or anchored. The exception is swivel guns. Guns like those used in fortifications mounted on sliding carriages are not considered tied down or anchored.
Shooting platforms are allowed.

douglas@SouthAfricanCannons.org If you are in the U.S or Canada. and you wish to be provided targets, entry fee is $4 for 2 targets, reentry or multiple entries is $4 for 2 targets. Target fee includes postage. No limit on number of entries.
You may provide your own targets but they must be the B17, 25/50 Meter, Slow Fire, UIT Precision Target, or NRA Muzzle Loading target. If you provide your own targets there is no entry fee.
How to enterShoot the match!
On the back of the target write your internet user name, full name, address and email address, cannon description including caliber and score.

Prizes-none, other than the prestige of shooting your cannon well.
