Lyman 310 hand tool?
« on: January 01, 2003, 01:52:55 AM »
Has anyone used one of these?   Do they do a make a good cartridge?  I think they look great, but can't see the $80 just to have something that LOOKS  good, at least not right now, but is they work well, I'd like to have one.

Pros?  Cons?

Ranger, it's a hand held reloader looks like a big pair of pliers with a place for a loading die in the handle.  Are you famaliar with the old original loading tools, or the old Ideal loading tool? Hold on just a sce, lemme try something.   http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/pod/standard-pod-wrapped.jhtml?id=0002903&navAction=jump

It's a non-bench mount reloading press that uses special dies and works sort of like squeezing the handles on a pair of pliers. Nifty lil gadget, but a bit pricey fer my blood. But it is authentic to the old west, they've been around fer a heck of a long time.

I prefer the Lee Hand Press myelf, same portablilty, less cost, and uses standard dies from about any company.

:D  Thanks John.  This:

"Positives: portability, easy stowage, convenience, and fine for slow production rate. Great for use in camp, in the truck, the range, or anywhere you want to casually assemble a few rounds. Reliable, accurate ammo can be made easily. Either cast or jacketed bullets no problem. Either blackpowder or smokeless loads are easy. The re-priming stage is done in a shell-holder die and is quiet, unlike the Lee Loader that requires a mallet. Authentic Old-West reloading. Relaxing and satisfying activity."

Was the exact information I was looking for!!!

I thought that they would be handy for taking to the range, non-production reloading and just look good with my guns.  :)
