Did this with tissue paper wrapped salt in my Daisy pump up pellet gun years ago. I would imagine this thing is too dangerous for the english though.

I use my pellett pistol with 5 -10 pumps, no pellet or projectile of any type. At these close ranges, a foot or less,  it will dismember the insects, wasp which are hard bodies included. And it is safe for kids also. (Tell them not to put thier eye out!  ;D  ) ear

Its   hard  enough   trying  to  keep  a  house  clean   without   spraying  salt  everywhere.

You're supposed to use it in somebody else's house, not your own. Could also be fun around picnics.

Then there's the idea of ballistics. You could go with really fine Mortons iodized, or coarser (double aught) kosher. Gotta have a heavier load for cockroaches in some parts of the country.

add some Mrs.Dash and you got a slick tool around the grill !
or use coarse salt and a margarita mixer and you have some wild mixed drink maker  ;D

i'd be mad as a hornet ( pun intended ) if i had salt shot all over my house ..

I like that pepper idea, but I'd like it even more if they had a full auto version of the pepper shooter.

full auto pepper ? yeah right ! you'd all be sneezing and watery eye'd like crazy
then there'd be a full auto firearm accident
then the gun grabbers would want to ban pepper !
and flies would be everywhere and thier numbers could not be controlled !
this is an outrage and cannot be allowed to happen  8)

Scibaer:

It's worth the risk. Just the thought of doing a spray and pray attack on a big bowl of stew is very appetizing. Honey, will you please pass the pepper? Mwa ha ha!

Seriously though, I actually did see a set of "onion goggles" in a culinary supply catalog. You put them on like ski goggles and it keeps your eyes from watering. Body armor for pepper lovers.

when I was a kid we would load shotgun shells with sawdust to shoot bumble-bees.  I think we only used cardboard or fiber wads.  Never damaged anything other than the bees but we always made sure the barrel was clear after every shot.
