? Left Hand Thumbhole Stock?
« on: July 08, 2012, 08:31:17 AM »
Does anyone know if there is someone who makes thumbhole stocks for us southpaws.  I am getting bit by this bug and have sold two bolt guns and now am in the process of finding some H&Rs to replace them with.  But would like to have the thumbhole stock if it is an option. Oh and I have a 20 ga. a youth 22 hornet and a 223 all H&Rs so I am off to a good start.  Thanks.

Try a Handi-grip stock most like them.

I haven't found any wood ones either.  I have a Handi grip and the gun already had a bobbed hammer for very low scope so the reportedly low profile didn't bother me.  I like it.  Not very expensive either.

Boyds has a black synthetic stock that will work for both rt. and lft. hand. It is not a true thumg hole but my son has one and I am getting one.

Boyd's doesn't make any synthetic H&R stocks that I'm aware of, just wood and right-hand only in the t-hole,  but Choate makes the Handi-grip and Survivor stock that are both ambi t-hole stocks, both available from H&R and several online retailers.

My best advice if you want a wood stock is submit a request to Boyd's on their website, maybe if enough lefties submit a request they'll make em!  ;)

Dude, look at the savage. I bought a LH  laminated thumbhole thru Davidsons. Love it,topped with a matching silver AETEC in burris zee rings. Accutrigger. One of my favorite .22s.

I went the other way entirely, and traded my LH Savage for a Handi with extra barrels, sold/traded the barrels for calibers I wanted, sold the Choate varmint stock and got a Handi-grip, and never regretted it.  Just preferences.
