Good accuracy for 2 inch cannon
« on: July 30, 2012, 05:58:40 AM »
Question, I'm getting a 6 foot wide pattern at 200 yards. With a 2 inch smooth bore cannon. Would this be considered above or below normal for accuracy?

for a good shooter that is below what you can get,
you need to look for a 3.5 to 4 foot group.
i have seen as good as 16 inchs.  at 200 yards,
weight of balls mic the balls for roundness, and grease the balls,  or change over to turned aluminum bolts, if you can pay for them or make them,  but you are doing good if you are on your own.

It will also depend on sights and shooting ability....

Sabots also help....
Mr president I do not cling to either my gun or my Bible.... my gun is holstered on my side so I may carry my Bible and quote from it!

Windage between ball and bore makes a difference.  Weighed powder charges help.  Balls when cast may have shrink cavities in them that greatly affect accuracy.
