Yep, just bought a new one a few months ago.  Serial # will start with CBA on SB2.  The FAQ are your friend....

Both of my Hornets are SB2.   One of which I reamed to .225Win about 7-8 years ago.

I used to have a 22 Hornet on a SB1 frame. Serial # started with BA and had a small firing pin. Never had any problems and it shot great.
After buying a .223 Ultra, which for me turns out to be more fun to shoot and reload, I let the Hornet go.

A BA frame was made in 1984 by H&R Inc and isn't an SB1, it is cast iron tho as were all of their frames AFAIK, shotgun or rifle, small firing pins were standard on their rifle frames, all of which were low pressure chamberings such as the 22 Hornet, 30-30 etc. SB1/SB2 frames weren't made until NEF started making them in 1987.  ;)

I use a hornet on a shotgun frame, it worked out to be a lot more accurate for me. I make no effort to push the envelope, my best loads are moderate, and there is no problem. If you want to mount other high pressure loads on it, SB1/SB2 makes a difference, but if you want a Hornet, it does not.

Tim, Thanks for the correction, I guess I just assumed it was a SB1 since it was a shotgun at one time. The barrel was a SB2 and fit great with no modifications.
