Filling in My New LIfe
« on: September 03, 2012, 07:19:36 PM »
Just was reviewing my life as my wife just passed on Saturday:

We have the nine ordnance projects which can all be realistically prioritized and schedules put into place... I plan to include going over to Lewiston, ID and using Bill Twigg's class to finish up two sets of 2/3 scale #1 wheels.  I'm going to head to southern Colorado and ride the CTSRR steam train and pick up my radius cutter and stop in on Mike & Tracy.  The CTSRR, as it was one of my wife's and mine favorites (old llife) and M&T and the radius cutter for the new one.  Got a lot of hours and new freedoms to figure in.

I cannot grieve to long or hard as we have had a terrific run of enjoying each other and counting coup on many battles (with our Elder Brother's help) ... especially over the last nine years when we went beyond the time she was supposed to leave.  We would cuddle and reminisce about how happy we were and how long we had cheated the grim reaper.  ...well, he finally didn't have to go back empty handed.

So the time for some serious ordnance fabrication has returned.  More later after the CO trip.  Gotta get figured where M&T's barrel(s) fit in...

George, you have my most sincere and deepest condolences.

I can honestly say I have felt your pain and have walked in your shoes, having lost my wife of 44 years, just 18 short months ago.  At times it will be tough and you will feel a giant empty spot in your heart. That empty spot will be painful for a time, but it will heal and  fill with the memories of the times you spent together.

One thing that gave me great comfort was talking with  others about what I was feeling, especially some who had experienced what I was feeling.  We have another here who has also recently lost his wife, Kabar.  Allen and I have talked a number of times over the past months and shared the feelings we are experiencing. It brought me peace talking with him. If you wish to just talk about what you feel, drop me a PM with your phone number and I would be most glad to call you.

I will keep you and your wife in my prayers.

George,   You are welcome here at any time.  Mike and I send our sincere condolences to you and wish you well as you embark on a new journey.  Although in another week we will be exploring this great country of ours for about a month, after that, please stop by.  We look forward to talking with you.  Oh, our customers need not be nervous; my son and his 12 gauge live at Mike's house and guard the cannon manufactory 24 hours per day when we are on the road.  Our friend formerly with the 82nd Airborne keeps the works under surveillance a portion of each day and night that we are away.  He is totally unpredictable so he fits in quite well here.

Smokin' my pipe on the mountings, sniffin' the mornin'-cool,
I walks in my old brown gaiters along o' my old brown mule,
With seventy gunners be'ind me, an' never a beggar forgets
It's only the pick of the Army that handles the dear little pets - 'Tss! 'Tss!

George,
First my I express my heartfelt condolences,
I see your wife's passing was not unexpected, it was good she had a loving husband she could count on and help her in her long fight, most people don't realize the toll it can take on both, planing for the future and projects is a good healthy outlook, if you ever get to the east coast and want to make some smoke and burn some powder let me know....

Sending you a pm also....

It seems like you've already got an itinerary worked out to keep yourself active and occupied, and that sounds like a great plan; hang in there George.

RIP John. While on vacation July 4th 2013 in northern Wisconsin, he was ATVing with family and pulled ahead of everyone and took off at break-neck speed without a helmet. He lost control.....hit a tree....and the tree won.  He died instantly.

The one thing that you can almost always rely on research leading to, is more research.

So sorry to hear of your loss, my prayers are with you. This summer, my wife had a battle with cancer herself, with Radiation, so I know it can be  very trying. Your plans sound like good therapy, best of everything to you! And to Smokemjoe, prayers to you and yours, also...BoomLover
