what would be the best handgun to buy (under $500) for deer hunting in iowa?From another Iowa deer hunter:It depends on what type of hunting you want to do and how you plan to choose your shots. Short/long range, wait for a still shot/or walking/running, from a tree stand, or while you are stalking, etc. I got one 2 yrs ago with my .444 Encore from a stand @ 60 yds. Choose a gun you can shoot well, find the maximum range at which you can be effective with it, and limit yourself to those conditions. Be safe and post some pix when you score. Best wishes.
