Chic Fil A Appreciation Day
« on: August 01, 2012, 06:54:32 AM »
I just got back from Chic Fil A, and man what a blowout.  It's a good thing all the Christ haters are boycotting, or I would have never got my order.

They have the police down there directing traffic.  I hope they are watching out for angry Obama voters as well.

No, I didn't see any fruit loops; in fact that was the cleanest large group of people I've seen in over fifteen years.  I didn't even see a tattoo or a piercing; I was shocked.

It took me almost an hour to get my sandwich and shake today.  They told me that earlier a van load of protesters had arrived from the Atlanta area, got out with their signs, looked around and thought better of it.  I had to wait in line to turn off the 4 lane access to get to the driveway.  Made me feel good about my fellow man.

And....truth be told....half the people in the line could have been gay and no one would have known or cared if they were just there to buy a meal....

Had Chick fil A for lunch, had to wait 20 minutes to get in, and 40 minutes to place and pick up order.   Ordered peach shakes for entire family.  Going back for supper before work.

I am also getting some pieces of fudge ready for Friday's queens campaign.

The funny part is...this was an absolutely BRILLIANT marketing ploy!  Chick-fil-A has always had Christian beliefs as their core company values.  They just made sure the right "talking heads" got hold of their latest statement.  It's really no different than what they did last year, or a couple years before that....they just got it in the right hands this time.

I won't wait in line for 2 hours for a sandwich today, BUT, I always have and always will stop in whenever I get a chance.  Their sandwiches must be laced with crack, and I always feel good about frequenting a business that greets me with more than a "what do you want" type attitude.
The problem with troubleshooting is....sometimes it shoots back!

Enjoyed a #10 with a peach shake. Big crowd with cops directing traffic and fox 35 on hand. Small crowd of sodomites but no problems from anyone.
I eat there anyway over any fast food place because it is the best, cleanest, most professional acting place going. Today I supported Traditional Marriage and the First Amendment by eating there and want listen to any argument over it.

Just to put a culinary spin on this, my wife and I tried a meal there once. It wasn't bad, but I don't think we'll be going back. Given other options like Burger King, KFC, Hardees, Wendys, Subway, jimmy Johns, and even McDonalds, we're much more likely to go to any of the others. We might go there of Arbys or Pizza hut were the only other options.

Wife ,one of the grandkids and I ate supper there tonight.
The drive through went around the building twice.
I stood in line outside for 45 min.
Got my food to go because  inside was packed.
The crowd looked like the crowd at the D C TEA PARTY.
I seen people with small children all the way up to the old folks with walkers.
And with that big crowd I didn't have to talk above a normal talking voice to be heard.
And I doubt you could find a nicer bunch of polite people anywhere.
To bad the news media didn't show up to show how horrid us hate mongers are!!!

Some of you asked just what the scene’s like on Chick-fil-A appreciation day in Chicago, home to #ChicagoValues, and the city at the heart of the controversy over Chick-fil-A after our mayor congratulated an alderman in shutting the company out of opening a second location within the city limits.

The line at 12:10pm extended down the city block from the entrance, full of Chicagoans who, it would seem, don’t share Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s definition of “Chicago Values.”

One woman and her friend took up a collection at their office to buy bags of the chicken sandwiches to deliver to an area homeless shelter.

A man just outside held up a collection box to buy lunch for Alderman Moreno’s office. His spiel? “Repay hate with kindness.”

The woman next to me in line brought her elderly mother, an immigrant, to Chick-fil-A after she learned of the Mayor’s antics. She emailed everyone from her church, upset that Christians were being discriminated against. “I told everyone I know,” she said.

In the Chicago suburban location in Schaumburg, IL, a line extended out the doors as well:

In the meantime, a new report from Rebel Pundit reveals that Alderman Moreno may be housing Barack Obama’s campaign office in his own aldermanic office, which would be in violation of several laws.

In addition to kindness, we can repay the hate with a little sunshine on the #ChicagoValues Rahm Emanuel and Alderman Moreno have been pursuing. The spicy chicken sandwich was delicious, btw.

I've seen a lot of name calling going on today and the gay rights activists are really starting to remind me of the Westboro Babtist Church people. Kind of ironic since the gay rights movement claims to support "diversity" I guess there is no room in their "diverse"  universe for opinions that differ from theirs.

Huckabee says Chic Fil A Appreciation Day was beyond his imagination.

Huckabee: Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day 'beyond anything I could have imagined'  Published August 02, 2012
FoxNews.com
  •
Mike Huckabee said Thursday that the success of "Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day" went beyond "anything I could have imagined," saying stores across the country reported "record, historic sales."
The former Arkansas governor and Fox News host was reacting after customers flocked to hundreds of local franchises Wednesday following a call by Huckabee for patrons to show their support. The call came after CEO Dan Cathy came under fire in some circles for his opposition to same-sex marriage.
Huckabee said the call for an "Appreciation Day" was in response to what he described as "economic bullying" by people trying to put Cathy "out of business."
"It was just getting out of hand," Huckabee said.
The protests against Cathy included local mayors threatening to keep the restaurant out of their city.
But on Wednesday, stores were packed and lines poured into the streets.
"It's gone beyond anything I could have imagined," Huckabee told Fox News. "Every one of (the stores) that I know have reported record, historic sales yesterday. ... A lot of the stores ran out of chicken before the end of the day."
Pastor Rick Warren also tweeted that Cathy called him and told him the company set a world record Wednesday.
Critics of Chick-fil-A argue that the company's opposition to gay marriage goes well beyond Cathy's statements. Over the years, its philanthropic wing, WinShape, has donated millions of dollars to outside organizations that actively lobby against efforts to legalize same-sex marriage.
But Huckabee said when he's doing business with any company, "I'm not buying their politics. I'm buying their product. "
Huckabee said one demographic, though, wasn't thrilled about Wednesday's turnout: "Actually I don't think the chickens were too happy about the day. They really gave their lives in mass numbers."

Boycott about so much more than a chicken sandwich  By Todd Starnes
Published July 31, 2012
FoxNews.com
  •    Chicago mayor Rahm Emanuel recently took a stance against Chick-fil-A, saying that they didn't represent the city's values.
There’s something about the public flogging of Chick-fil-A by government officials that seems un-American – lawmakers hell-bent on destroying a privately owned American company simply because of the owner’s personal opinions.
Democrats in more than a half dozen major cities have led the charge – slandering Chick-fil-A’s owner and calling for all-out bans on the company’s expansion efforts in places like Chicago, Philadelphia, Boston and San Francisco.
And Chick-fil-A’s only crime is being a family-owned company that ascribes to the teachings of the Holy Bible – a belief that marriage is a union between one man and one woman.
Chick-fil-A President Dan Cathy has been called a bigot, a homophobe. The mayor of Washington, D.C., accused the company of peddling “hate chicken.”
Philadelphia City Councilman Jim Kenney introduced a resolution condemning the company -- and its president.
“This particular individual is rabidly homophobic and wants to deny Americans civil rights that are enjoyed by every other American,” Kenney said.

'The vicious left-wing assault against Chick-fil-A should serve as a wakeup call to people of faith.'

There are efforts under way to shut down Chick-fil-A restaurants across the country. Student groups are launching similar campaigns on university campuses.
Lost in their outrage over a belief held by a majority of the American public, is the fact that Chick-fil-A employs thousands and thousands of people.
And with unemployment hovering around 8.2 percent, you have to wonder what sort of message Democrats are trying to send to the nation.
Perhaps the party of President Obama believes it’s morally better to be unemployed than to be anti-gay marriage?
American Christians are facing uncertain times. Our nation’s values are under assault. Religious liberty has been undermined. We live in a day when right is now wrong and wrong is now right.
The vicious left-wing assault against Chick-fil-A should serve as a wakeup call to people of faith. It’s not about a chicken sandwich. It’s about the future of our country.
“Individuals have the right to decide whether or not to ‘eat mor chikin.’ But no government leader should restrict a business or organization from expanding to their district based on the personal or political views of the owners,” said Leith Anderson, president of the National Association of Evangelicals. “Such evident discrimination and attempts to marginalize those with religious values have no place in American democracy.”
Those who preach tolerance – are the least tolerant of all. And I suspect Councilman Kenney spoke for many when he issued a not-so-subtle threat to individuals like Dan Cathy who support traditional marriage.
“If he really, truly believes what he believes, that is his right to do so,” he said. “But there is often a price to pay for that.
In other words, Councilman Kenney wants people with dissenting views to shut up – or else face the consequences.
Pastors across the fruited plain addressed the attacks on Chick-fil-A from their pulpits on Sunday – but none was more eloquent or passionate than Charles Lyons – the pastor of Armitage Baptist Church in Chicago.
Lyons issued an appeal to Mayor Rahm Emanuel, urging him to reconsider the verbal assault he made on people of faith.
“Chick-fil-A’s values are not Chicago’s values,” Emanuel said. His remarks left many wondering if Christians were welcome in the Windy City.
“Mr. Mayor, do not dismiss us,” he implored. “Do not disrespect us. We too, are Logan Square. We too, are Chicago.”
The pastor admonished Emanuel without so much as a shout or a hint of anger. His remarks were peppered with applause and the occasional Amen. Midway through his appeal, Lyons paused – and delivered a not-so-subtle warning to city leaders.
“If the thought police come to Armitage Baptist Church, we will meet them at the door, respectfully, unflinchingly, willing to die on this hill holding a copy of the sacred Scriptures in one hand and a copy of the U.S. Constitution in the other,” he said.
Pay attention, people of faith.
Dark clouds are gathering. The winds of intolerance are blowing. There’s a great storm approaching.
The days of persecution are upon us.
