Man Cave Refurb
« on: August 14, 2012, 11:13:28 AM »
I put down a hardwood floor in my man cave.  It wasn't that hard.  One day to lay the floor and one day to put down the molding and clean up the mess.

Looks good!  I'm on the bare concrete slab right now, but flooring will be last after all of the other work is done.  I thought about wood flooring, but I'll probably go back with carpet.  The concrete has taught me what live acoustics do to my ability to hear and understand speech.

Looks great! I've been wanting to do that to mine for quite awhile. Maybe I should get off my arse and get started!

I use a commercial grade of outdoor carpet over concrete. Glued down, it dont move. The wood floors look good.

I am old enough to remember when all quality homes had hardwood floors. Then wall to wall carpet got popular and a lot of wood floors got covered up.

Thanks, we only have 2 rooms with carpet now.  One is the spare bedroom which gets very little use, and the other is the master bedroom.  Carpet does seem to make a room less noisy so I may keep it in there.

Nice job Swampy,    I was wondering also if the planks are the laminate type or hardwood.....full thickness or engineered?    I have done several houses myself in the past but haven't now for about 7 years.   One thing I really like about the wood floors is its real easy to find small things when the fall on it.    Good looking Cave.   :)

This is engineered.  Our humidity is so bad here, I was afraid full thickness would be too unstable.
