how difficult is forming 22 rem jet cases from 357 brass? Saw one on ebay and thought it might be fun, then i looked at the price! this thing is going to go for way more than 200! still has 2 days to go.

I used to have a Contender barrel chambered for the jet... I made brass form 357 mag brass. It was fun you will have best luck with brass cases and after annealing them...
The best fun I had was when I came across some S&W chamber inserts (M53)for the 22LR from a Jet chamber... ;)

 To make 22Jet brass I use 4 dies: 8mm,7mm,6mm, & 5.56.  I made the form dies by cutting off LEE RGB dies ($14/set) in 8x57, 7mmMag, 243, and 22-250. Then it is like neck sizing the .357 brass 4 times. Easy. (Anybody need LEE bullet seating dies?) I may get another 7mm die (7-08 will probably do it), this one is as far down as it goes.  I  finish with a 22Jet die.

Once the cases fit into the chamber they are ready to fireform.



Jet brass from .357.
75 rounds of many kinds of range brass. cleaned and annealed.All processed from .357 to .22 Jet in less than an hour. No failures.

I'd just buy Jet brass, it's not much more than 357 brass.  ;)

I agree with Tim and Gendoc, the smart choice is to buy the brass.


...the only reason to roll your own is if you are like me , lots of time, and as happy in the reloading room as you are at the range.

.30x.22 Jet 40° Ackley Improved, that's a 300BLK rimmed, Right?????
