Astra 3000
« on: September 13, 2012, 07:14:46 PM »
I have an Astra 3000 32acp in very good condition. Had not been fired in 30 yrs. Just started shooting it after cleaning as best as I could. shoots great except for every 2nd mag or so there is a fail to feed because back of round gets caught under the loaded chamber indicator pin. any thoughts on how to correct this problem.  this is a wonderful gun to shoot and very accurate so really want this fixed.|
Also where can I find extra mag for it.    Thanks
Dale

cagoat:  here's how you fix it - clean it up and put it away.  The pistol hasn't been used in 30 years.  Many of those Astras used softer steels then are used today and parts, expecially parts like extractors, get busted easily.
The 3000 is one of those that had difficulties like that due to the small semi-rim of the 32acp.  Some functioned without a hiccup but others would hang up like that.  I have seen some with the chamber indicator cut back so as to not affect functioning.
If you are in the mood to shoot the 32 acp, there are many, many surplus type firearms out there of newer production that will shoot that ammo for years without problem and you can keep your collectable in the safe.  imo.
