New toy is done
« on: August 16, 2012, 12:38:53 PM »
Just picked up my new barrel last night and got it all framed up , tossed on an older Bushnell 4x12 that I had laying around and now its ready to take out for a test drive , all I need to do is buy a neck turner to thin out the formed brass necks along with a big set of glasses to see those little bullets .

By the way its a 17 Rem , had a 17HMR bull barrel that I just wasn't happy with and the price of RF ammo going up again , it was time for a change . I planning to start with the 25g Hornady's and a mid level load of Varget or BLC-2 just to ring it out , might be better off with ball powder to fit those tiny little necks .  ::)

I got lucky and the barrel fit on the first frame I tried it on , as for the barrel itself , the only thing that needed changed was the ejector , swapped it out for a 223 rem that I got from Brownells . I did notice that the 223 ejector was thinner than the 17 HMR and it now has about .010 gap on each side , but I don't see this being an issue .

Hope to get to the range in the morning if all goes well , RR soon .

stimpy,

stop teasin' us and post a pic!  We want to know what color it is. ;D   Bring it to the fall shoot and you can have Catfish fire the "proof" load. ::)
