Tried some Winchester PDX 1 .....
« on: April 08, 2013, 09:24:42 AM »
After reading many of the differing (sometimes VERY) opinions on the Winchester PDX 1 round, I decided to try some for myself. I picked up a box of the 3" .410 at Gander Mountain, which pretty much killed a $20.00 bill. We filled up some jugs with water, as well as rounding up some cardboard boxes for patterning. The results of hitting the jugs at 5, 10, and 15 yards were noticeably more dramatic than the Federal self defense buckshot I have tried in the past. The pattern at 20 yards produced a pie-plate group of the four discs and BB's scattered everywhere. At close range (15-20 feet) the pattern closely resembled the results below from full-choked shotguns. The shells loaded and ejected with no issues from my NEF Pardner .410, with the empties landing several feet behind me. The BB"s I'm a little skeptical about, but the discs pack quite a whallop. I'll keep some on hand, just because... 8) ...Scott B.

Thanks for the update on the PDX1's in a shotgun.  I use those in my 3" chamber and 3" barrelled Judge, along with the PDX1 45s.  They are great and I have always wondered what they would do in a Pardner variation.  May have to complement my collection with a 410 now.
