SB 249 – Ban on Possession of Magazine Release Parts

Bill Author: Senator Leland Yee, D-San Francisco
senator.yee@senate.ca.gov

SB 249, introduced by Senator Yee, began its travel through the legislative process this year as an agricultural bill. On May 22, after the time for introduction of new bills had passed, SB 249 was fully gutted and amended into a bill that now proposes to restrict magazine release components in semi-auto firearms. The bill suddenly changed into its new form following a CBS news story focusing on some semi-automatic firearms.

CRPA’s concerns regarding SB 249 include the fact that it would make it illegal to possess parts for magazine releases on most semi-auto firearms with detachable magazines. There are hundreds of thousands of firearms that may be impacted by SB 249. These firearms legally owned by residents. SB 249 could potentially make criminals out of law-abiding citizens.

The bill has been referred from the Assembly Rules Committee to the Assembly Public Safety Committee and will most likely be heard on July 3.CRPA and NRA are working to stop this bill; please use your collective power as a CRPA member to voice your opposition to SB 249 and help to defeat it immediately.

The only relief the gun owner in CA can look forward to is that the next president may? have a justice dept that will defend the second amendment. The one party system in CA does not care at all what the electorate or constitution says. JimCrow laws were only defeated in federal courts and that is the only hope in various commie states.

Sadly, one of the presidential candidates has said that things of that nature are up to the state, so his administration would not interfere in Californias business.

The big cities in Ca. will go thru what is happening in Chicago right now. Lets pass enough laws to appease the liberals, and pretty soon you'll have turmoil. It no doubt is going to happen in most major cities across the US. If I had the unfortuate luck of living in Ca., I'd stock up on all kinds of gun parts. Probably 99% of  wouldn't know what their looking at anyway. And the ones that did, would give you a wink and a smile, and tell you to have a nice day. gypsyman

I mentioned this on another thread the other day concerning California. A law can come up for a "state wide vote", and be passed, and then some judge somewhere, will strike down the law after the whole damn state has voted it in. Only in California.
I think the only way their gonna get straightened out is to by plenty of rope, and start hangin "wind chimes" in trees. A good place to start this little project would be Hollyweird.
The courts, kooks, and movies stars run California, but then again, didn't the VOTERS, put Brown back in as governor? That ought to speak volumes for the voting populace of the state.

I remember when I was a kid, living on a farm in rural WV, when I only got one channel (NBC) on TV, that I was totally infected with the magic of California.  From the old western re-runs like The Big Valley and the like, that place just sounded amazing.  It seemed like a place of full of adventure and beautiful movie stars.  I recall at the time feeling like Luke Skywalker when he said,  'If there is a bright center to the universe, you're on the planet it's farthest from.'

Well those magical days are long gone.  I lost all allure for that state years ago when I became older and a little wiser and learned how sickening their liberal laws were becoming.  Nowadays, that rural farm, where my folks still live and raise cattle and horses seems like the magical place.  It's  a place where Dad and I can go shoot, burn brush, walk the fields and woods.  It's great.

California is lost.  I would almost say irrevocably, but you never know.  To any Californian reading this, all I can say is vote carefully.  You are very, very close to the same miserable existence they have in Mexico, England, etc.  Once CA bans all your weapons, you will be in the same boat at Juarez, where those poor folks are disallowed firearms to protect themselves.  Look at their quality of life.
"There exists a law, not written down anywhere, but in our hearts.. that, if our lives are endangered by plots or violence or armed robbers or enemies, any and every method of protecting ourselves is morally right."
Marcus Tullius Cicero

California will become part of either Mexico or China.
