Can you remember when Muslims were not an issue?  We never heard about them.  Now, in the last few years, the world is "on fire" for and against the Muslims.  Why can't they just stay where they were born, deal with their own disasters, and leave the rest of the world alone?  It seems the Muslims are the modern trouble for the entire world.  Perhaps it's because we intervened in their affairs.  Perhaps it's because of 9/11.  Perhaps it's because we didn't eradicate them after 9/11.  In the end, I think it's Obama's fault.  Bush wanted to seek the terrorist out and kill them regardless of what country harbored them.  But Obama did not follow through.  He actually apologized to them.  That's like saying I'm sorry to a coyote.  All the crap on the news about what the sand dwellers are doing in the name of Alah or whoever it is they  worship, is the fault of the U.S. for not crushing them to death.  Sometimes I wish I were young enough to go there and enjoy my time behind a rifle.  The whole thing is getting completely out of control, and the longer we play the part of partial intervention, the longer it will take to resolve the Muslim issue.  I fear it's already too late. 
I look back at Viet Nam and see the same thing.  Fear of reprisal.  Fear to go ahead and do what needs to be done.  We are failing, friends.  We are going down because we are cowards.

Islam was founded in Mecca (Saudi Arabia) about 620 AD and was immediately expansionist.  Muhammad rounded up his faithful and forthwith went out to conquer.  He conquered much of the mideast and North Africa....then muslim forces moved into Spain. The Moors (muslims) crested at their "high water" mark in 732AD, when they met Charles Martel (Charlemagne or Charles the Hammer), who thrashed them at the Battle of Tours, France.
  They quieted for a couple centuries, then came the Ottoman empire, which lasted until early 20th century, when it was finally dissolved and was divided into the present nations..Iraq, Iran, Israel, Trans-Jordan etc.  They remained quiet for some time, strong men using the oil revenues to keep the rabble quiescent.
  Then Jimmie Carter misguidedly thought he knew better what was good for Iran than the Shah did.  The Shah had a progressive Iran coming along..educated population, generally more free than their muslim neighbors, well enmesched into the 20th century.  Some believe he was getting ready to grant even more freedoms.
  Unfortunately, Carter figured Iran had a need to slip back to the 7th century, so he saw to it the Shah was ousted to make room for the Ayatollah Khomeni, who immediately bit Jimmie Carter in his butt, by taking our entire embassy captive....the rest is sad history!

IG, good post.  the Shah was indeed modernizing iran.  schools, hospitals, industry, he was giving them a better life..  but of course all of that disagrees with the koran.
he did execute his political enemies, but that's nothing new in the middle east.

OK, so now you attack the CSMonitor an old revered Christian outfit because they don't share your zeal for islamo bashing. I see. But whereever you look the video appears bogus, made by fraudsters at some higher authorities request, and involving whackadoodle agent-reverand Terry Jones. Complete with over-dubbing the actor's original dialogue to be anti-moslem.  Evangelicals and other islamophobes feed voraciously on this stuff---their raison d'etre, and the main reason the video was made was to fan islamophobia. .   A few facts for TM..
1)  Christian Science..is like the cereal, "Grape nuts".  Grape nuts isn't grapes and it isn't nuts...Same way with "Christian Science"..it isn't Christian... and it isn't science!
2)  The offensive film is obviously fraudulent..it is NOT a documentary of Muhammad's life..and nobody claims it is.  All the more reason the muslims should NOT have gone "bonkers".
3)  How much more maturity could have been shown, had they simply said; "just another nutcase video maker!"
4)  You claim "the mooslimbs have enough stuff to demonstrate against the West".. but the reverse is also true; the many plane hijackings of the 1960s &70s, the Munich Olympic murders, the Lockerbie plane destruction, the Lebanese barracks, the USS Cole, the beheading of newsmen, the refusal to allow Jews their small, sliver of a homeland, the taking of the the Achille Lauro and the murder of Mr Klinghofer, first attack upon the World Trade Center, our embassies bombed in Africa and the act of war called "9/11".  All this long before we entered Iraq or Afghanistan in force.
5)  Your most egregious mistake is where you claim.... "Evangelicals feed on that stuff".  You could not be more wrong, as an Evangelical, I can say..most Evangelicals pay little or no attention to it..they know it is a work of fiction..probably cooked up in one man's mind.  By the clearly obvious (and murderous) results, the muslims clearly DO feed upon such fiction, way beyond what Evangelicals do....
6)  Only questions left:  a) Who lit the match, b) who fired the guns, c) who killed the ambassadors and d) which "government" allowed this to happen?   It sure wasn't Christian Evcangelicals..!!
