1968 I was in Beeville Tx working at the Base armory (aviation Ordnance). We had 50 garands that were sweet shooters, due to a build up of the base Armed response team we added another 50 garands. All 30-06, same as the others. Difference, new ones kicked like a mule. Same ammo, rifles seemed to weigh the same but a major difference in recoil. Never did figure that one out. New rifle stocks were not darkend by oil but the difference in weight should have been minimal. so, some are sweet to shoot, others kick hard!
