If you go to the H&R centerfire forum, and look in the FAQ's there is a video available on crowning.

I've watched plenty of videos & understand how its done, what I want to know is weather turning the barrel on a lathe produce a better functioning crown than one done by hand ?

I really would like to say yes but I've no real knowledge.. I usually just use the handtools rather than set it up in the lathe.. May just be lazy..but thet produce excellant results..
