A number of times I see requests for smoke and fire on this board, here's smoke at the Grayling Long Range Artillery Competition this past weekend.

Good show, Norm! Thanks for posting the pics.
RIP John. While on vacation July 4th 2013 in northern Wisconsin, he was ATVing with family and pulled ahead of everyone and took off at break-neck speed without a helmet. He lost control.....hit a tree....and the tree won.  He died instantly.

The one thing that you can almost always rely on research leading to, is more research.

Yep, that's just about how it looked from the bleachers.

I'm amazed that you guys could even see the 1200 yd. targets, let alone hit them! What was even more amazing was the diversity of guns on the line.

Plus, I even got to meet my first fellow Graybeard member since Armorer77, - a nice guy by the name of Norm.

A day well spent. Thank you!

Tom

Artilleryman,

Looks like fun. I've always wanted to see that. I guess I just had bad timing. I left Toledo the Thursday before the event. I was actually reminded of Grayling when I was up there. But, arrangements had already been made.

I almost gave Matt a ring as I did not realize how close I was. But, thought it was too short of notice. Anyway, Thanks for the photos.

It was nice talking to you Tom, even it it was only for a few minutes.  I also got a chance to talk to Cannoncocker.

Yes Norm, it was nice talking to you.  Not so nice competing against you.  Of all the details Norm is relating about Grayling, he is modestly neglecting to relate that he won the 600 yard event again with 9 out of ten hits on the wood.  He can really point that Elsworth.
