Thinking about a Glock what mod would you recommend???
« on: December 30, 2003, 11:34:27 AM »
I'm thinking of getting a 45 auto to carry. At first I was thinking of a Ruger but being older I really like the ghost sights. I seem to shoot so much better with them and the only 45 I see alot of ghost sights for is a Glock. What model of 45 auto is the best to carry?? Also I now carry a GP100 with a 4" barrel wearing the smart wear I guess the thunderware is about the same. With the double trigger safety that Glock has how safe is it to carry that way?? One reason I was thinking of the P97 Ruger is it has a decock and for some reason that seemed safer to me. Tell me the best mod. Glock in a 45 for what i'm lookin for and how safe it is to conceal in the smart wear carry. Living in Arizona not much of the year I wear a coat or heavy shirt so the smart wear is the best way to conceal. How do you conceal the your Glock and good does it conceal good?? Thanks Chuck (Cottonwood,AZ.)

Well for .45acp Glock you have three choices, #21, #30 & #36.  The 21 is out if you are looking for a CCW gun.  The 30 is a great gun but might be hard to conceal in AZ.  It's about the same size as the 19/23/32.  The 36 is a single stack and a little easier to conceal.  All three are great guns though, try to check them out in person and see wich one fits you the best.  As for price, that will depend on location.  I think all three average about $550-$600 here. If you want to oder off line, two good places to check are...

As for thunderware, I've never used it.  My partner at work carries a Glock 27 in a pair every now and then.  He likes it for occasional use.  Kind of scares me, I might want kids some day

The 36 sounds like what i'm interested in. Next week i'll go to a gun shop and see how it feels. The two places you recommend in the post have you bought guns from both of them?? What I might do is pay somebody with an FFL to order me a 36 if I like them then I don't have to pay state tax thhat will save me about 8.25% plus the price itself should be lower then the dealers price to  start. I'm hoping to get by for not much if any over $525.00     Thanks Chuck

Another vote for the mdl 36. I have a Glock Belt Clip on mine. If you gotta carry IWB thats the way to go. Still the main problem with any 45 is the weight. On the belt that's not much of a problem, but in thunderwear,
or smart carry?????? Of course if you're now carrying a GP100, the mdl 36 Glock will feel like a lightweight!

I got a G21 soon after they first came out and I've been carrying it concealed ever since. In the Summer I just use a fanny pack. I've tried a lot of different holsters, and under even a short jacket the Forbus paddle holster works great, too. I've always found a way to carry just about any gun I've wanted to carry, even my 4" Anaconda .44 mag.

Now a Ruger Bisley . . . . THAT might take a little thought. :cb2:

Have to put my .02 cents worth here. But I am a big fan of the Glock 27. Most of the officers on my department carry this unit as a back up and off duty. We have to buy our own - so we have a choice. But so far its been 100% Glock 27. Plus any other 40 cal. magazine will fit the little pest. Now a 15 rounds magazine sticking out of that..hummm....and yes Glock does have a piece to slide over the magazine so it looks like the handle.

Don't cry because its over - Smile because it happened!

Are you guys ready? Glock 20 or if you are carrying concealed a Glock 29 10mm. Just can't beat the 10mm! Check out Double Tap Ammo if you do not reload.
