This year is first time turkey hunting, tomorrow morning season starts. I have been told that turkey can only be found near water roosting up the trees near creeks & rivers. How far from water will the wander. Did not have time to scout before season started, so I hope to get fortunate & see one . Have calls, blinds, and good ammo. Thanks for any help..

leave the blind in the car, get there an hour before sunrise and just sit and listen.  you'll hear them gobble if they're there and then you can go to them.  Sit at the base of a tree wide enough to hide your profile.  Fiddle with decoys and calls until you find something you like and works in your area.  Good luck, and give us a report!

Back from turkey H. Did not here any so we scouted the rest of the morning since we have not done that yet. Found big turkey tracks by the river bed. Will be going there next time. So we chased snakes the rest of the morning. Roger found a nice black racer. Here is a pic.
