My youngest great story
« on: September 08, 2012, 12:22:06 PM »
She told me coming home on the plane a guy sits next to her. She was listening to Carrie Underwoods song "Jesus take the Wheel". The guy asks her what she is listening to and she tells him. He says he is an atheist. She just says ok. He then proceeds to tell her there is no God, heaven or hell. She asks if deer, cows and horses all eat grass, how come deer excrement is pellets, cows drop pies and horses drop apples?  The guy says he don't know. She told him if you don't know crap how can you reasonably discuss something as important as God, heaven or hell. ;D ;D

Well why don't we ask what would Jesus do at this point? How would he confront the non believer? How would He confront someones obvious bashing of christianity? Would he walk away or would He speak up for Himself? What would Jesus say to the Muslim, Bhuddist, Shintoaist, Taoist, etc?

In today's political climate it's perfectfully fine to bash a christian. Don't say anything that might offend another group. Demand that any other christian speak softly for fear of upsetting someone. Demand apologies from christians for speaking out that christianity is a good thing.

Yes, sometimes christians go overboard, it is much better than not saying or doing anything, hiding hoping someone else will speak up and take the heat..
Jesus never backed down when asked and why should we? Are we perfect in everything we do? Obviously not, we are human just like the people who always have the need to bash, put down or try to correct what they think is bad behavior in a christian.

I think the point of the story regardless of being an expert in ruminant scatology is, you may think you are smart but God uses the simplest of things (fecal matter at this point) to show us that we really don't know that much about anything.

Are you a Christian, and follow of Jesus Christ? No need to answer if you consider the question impolite...

Yes, I am a believer.

I just point out that as much as we think we know, we really don't know much. Albert Einstien whom we all agree was a genius said he couldn't wait to meet God to see how He did it all.

God uses the simplest things to show us we don't know squat when we think we do.
I have 2 engineering degrees and can't spell, so I think that might prove the point.

Christians in my opinion are just happy to share what they have. YMMV

The WWJD question has to do with emulating the character of Jesus and how we as Christians should reflect it... IMHO, anyhow.

Hmmm....

We?

Seems I remember you saying you were a Sikh last...

Hope you folks didn't believe that little story. It has been around for years. Sometimes the athiest is changed around to a politician.  Same story and very old.

Some people are religious, some people know about crap and some people are just anal.  All of that aside, the story was funny--right there.

I have YT on ignore but saw plenty of quotes.
a members family should be off limits.  and reading the quotes from him reminded me why I have him on ignore.

No wories guys, YT3 wouldn't take a shot at a family member. He likes to point out that when we get all puffed up everybody is really the same deep down. We all put our shoes on the same way, that is if we have shoes. He keeps alot of discussions lively and continues to remind us that are feet need to be on the ground. I am thankful for guys like him. He reminds me that we are not that and a bag of chips.

Ya, the story is an old one. My youngest is an IT major with a minor in graphic design. She accepted Christ about 10 years ago and I am her proud daddy. My oldest is a kindergarten teacher and accepted Christ the same time her sister did. (sigh no engineers)

  From YT..
" Some do that. Here on our little board, though... I'd have to say, I see a lot more Muslim-bashing than Christian-bashing. Might be diff on other boards".
************************************************************************************
Perhaps if there were less bombings, beheadings, stonings, "honor" killings, Ft Hood murders, Christian massacres and hangings by Muslims..there might be much less "Muslim bashing" going on.  Even a broad-based condemnation by most Muslims would go a long way toward helping.
Are we likely to get such a condemnation ?  Apparently not..not any more likely than YT would apologize to Shu...

Now that I've taken the trash out of this thread I'm gonna reopen it and see if folks can have a discussion that stays within the rules.

YT3 your supposed playing "devil's advocate" is getting real old. It seems you ruin most every thread you enter. I realize you "think" you are far wiser and more enlightened than anyone else here but perhaps you should go back and pay attention to the old saying "tis better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to open your mouth-OK here keyboard- and prove it".
