Got back at 10PM. Lots of Caribou, all over the road. Saw one Black Bear, over on another mountain, too far to hike. Saw four Grizzly sows with cubs. Did not see any lone Grizzlies. Wolves have been shot at, and are spooky. I would see them down in a valley. As soon as I stopped the Jeep, they took off. They would get behind cover and keep cover between them and me till they were out of range, went over a hill, or dropped down into a drainage with cover. Saw one pack of five, and four singles. Had a nice drive, snow is melting fast. Went to Central, had lunch then headed back. Snow on Eagle Summit going north, coming back south it had melted and the road was mud.
Had to stop and wait for the Caribou to get out of the road at 12 mile summit on the way back. Caribou there by the hundreds. No wonder they only had a one day season, with an emergency closure.
Saw Sky and another person up on a mountain side. They had hiked way up. Looked like they were looking at Caribou gut piles. Know it was Sky, because my car was parked in the parking lot at the trail head. No idea what they were doing there, I'll find out either tomorrow or Sunday.
