Attaching a sling
« on: September 07, 2012, 08:48:49 AM »
I've got a couple 12 H&Rs that I would attach slings to. The swivel stud in the stock wouldn't be an issue but would the one in the forearm cause to much stress/pressure and possibly crack or split the forearm? Someone suggested I go with a barrel band for the front because of this but I'd rather just mount it to the forearm as long as it wont cause any problems.

  Thanks,

of course, iv'e always bragged about
how simple and trouble-free the H&R/
NEF design is, and here i am with a
no-workee topper. :-[

in all fairness though, i have had it and
used it hard for 25 years, and it was used
with an unknown history when i got it, so
i guess that can be an endorsement for durabilty.

i'd like to see some new high-dollar firearms with
the use and abuse i've given mine 25 years from now. ;)

I'm a big fan of the barrel band as well. I also like the placement of the stud on the storearm.

I'm sure the problem, can easily be repaired.

Not to stray from the subject, but if you have to put a sling on a shotgun, pick up one of those slip on/off slings.  I had one years ago, it was made of leather, and it looped onto the stock and barrel when needed, otherwise, it stayed in my pocket.
