The idea has been done before, in the early days with Contender barrels.   No idea how successful it was though, before the Internet days.   Seems it didn't stay around very long if that says anything.

It is an option for your Encore.   But it raises a question I'd ask first... was the barrel test fired after the last return to assure it shoots accurately?   At $100 a pop with what used barrels sell for, not the $300 savings advertised to your door, and you probably already have a forend.    Add the return shipping, not cheap now days insured, and the possibility it won't be considered in the same condition when returned adding more cost.

Not to put the idea down at all, hope it does become a viable option, just suggesting that you become informed before you jump.

There is no charge for this opinion, so maybe its only worth what you paid for it...   ;)

Cool idea, but I'll pass. You can usually find really nice used barrels for $175-$200 shipped. If you know where to look and shop, you can find brand new T/C barrels for a hair over $200.

I'm not saying this is not a viable option for some but as for me, I think I could buy my barrel of choice (new, used or custom) and if I didn't like it I could sell it and my loss would be less than the cost of the rental.  I'm certain I could make most if not all my money back (less shipping) on a used barrel on resell.  Just my take.

This company is in Canada used barrels go for over $350 up here and are hard to find = this is a viable option but $100 is a bit much would be interested if they cut the price to $50.

Wow.  I'm glad the market is better down here in Texas.  I've paid that price for a complete used Contender not too many years ago (at a gun store no less).

So is there a problem with shipping TC rifle barrels to Canada?

Buy used in the US for far less, maybe even half that or better and more than likely with a much larger choice availble.  Just saying...   ;)

The problem with shipping a barrel up here to Canada is your federal government has made it so that we have to ship to a FFL dealer/exporter to export it my last Contender barrel I purchased from Eds was first shipped to the exporter than I had to have an importer bring it into Canada which added appr $175 to the price of a barrel.

There goes the savings.

I'm dealing with a fellow right now in Ontario, Canada I am looking at buying or trading him for a stainless steel 28" Prohunter barrel in 375H&H he is wanting $350.00 shipped; the barrel has supposedly been fired 6 times.
