The picture that should cost Obama his job    Instapundit heads the piece “Why Barack Obama Should Resign.” That’s a good title. The column might also be titled, “Be Afraid, Be Very Afraid.” I remember a line from the philosopher David Hume that Hayek used as an epigraph to The Road to Serfdom. “It is seldom,” said Hume, “that liberty of any kind is lost all at once.” There’s the innocent seeming accommodation here, the turning a blind eye to official violations of the law there and, bang, before you can say Saul Alinsky people are being rounded up at midnight brownshirted men for making a movie that embarrasses El Presidente.

In case you think that is a baseless exaggeration by a knuckle-dragging, right-wing hater, take a look at the photo:



By way of explication, Glenn Reynolds quotes the L.A. Times: “Just after midnight Saturday morning, authorities descended on the Cerritos home of the man believed to be the filmmaker behind the anti-Muslim movie that has sparked protests and rioting in the Muslim world.”

Got that? The chap made a movie. (He may also have violated probation, but that herring is red, Comrade.) As Glenn observes, “By sending — literally — brownshirted enforcers to engage in — literally — a midnight knock at the door of a man for the non-crime of embarrassing the President of the United States and his administration, President Obama violated that oath. . . . It is a betrayal of his duties as President, and a disgrace.”

Yep. And he should resign. And, as Glenn further observes he surely won’t. But the people of the United States, Democrat as well as Republican, should turn him out of office ignominiously in November.

Uh, the dude came in voluntarily, he was not under arrest. He could have told the cops to stick it and come back with a warrant - likely what I've have said - but he didn't. And it was his choice to wrap hisself up to hide his face.

In other words, Obama can usurp power not allowed for in the Constitution, lie continuously to the American people, ruin the economy, consort with known communists, violate his oath of office, but he'd better not stand by and allow a video maker to be hauled in on a suspected paroll violation.

I'm sure the cops sent to collect Mr Cerrotos made it real clear that he was not under arrest and they just wanted to talk to him about his non-crime. That's why they sent a dozen guys in the middle of the night.

I see from their patches that they are sheriff deputies. Sad that a sheriff went along with doing the Feds dirty work. I would like to think that if our local sheriff were told to do such an obviously unconstitutional thing he would refuse. If he did do the Feds bidding I'm sure he would be looking for a job after the next election.

bilmac:  c'mon, do you really think the local Sheriff is going to question a federal warrant.  That's like thinking the local pd or sheriff's deputies will not move to disarm Americans in their communities if called upon to do so.  All they will know is that the 'feds' want this guy 'bad', and they are charged with bringing him in.   If they 'want' to go in hot because he is a known gun-owner, loses like his wife or children or pets are simply considered collateral, and if his house burns down, too bad. 
This is like the local pd who bust into the wrong house, yank sleeping children out of bed and put their boots on the back of their necks and while pinned to the floor chase their frightened puppy into the bathtub where they execute it.  The fact that the community did not rise up in blood red anger and attack and burn the local police station and string up the out of control cops who committed those crimes is proof that Americans are gutless cowards.  Anyone who kept their mouths shut 'for fear of' in this community is simply not worth the sacrifice made by others to secure their freedoms. 
Now, let's all quake in our boots out of fear for upsetting islam and its messiah soblama.

Sheriffs are elected locally. I don,t know about where you live but where I am I am almost positive that the sheriff who did something like this would not keep his job.
 
I'm beginning to wonder about the internet story though, there is no other news source reporting it.
