ANOTHER WANDERLUST
« on: September 17, 2012, 02:23:33 AM »
I have made a couple of wanderlust trips since I retired.
The last one was a trip to Maine--what a wonderful trip. I drove up and picked up the Hen in Albany NY and after wandering around the N/E with her for a week or so I put her on a plane and wandered back home.
Met a few you you guys on the way--it was fun.
This may just be the last one that I will do---I'm gettin a little long in the tooth.
The Hen wants to cruise around Alaska. The plans---as they now stand---is for an earl July cruise in 2013. I will wander up about 10 days ahead of her---to Seattle---where we will meet and I will park the Mustang in one of those long term parking lots for about a week. We will fly from seattle to somewhere in Alaska and sail back to Vancover where a train will take us back to Seattle and then She and I will wander back home.
Now if any of you boys have a suggestion for me a routing to Seattle and some good drives---I am all ears.
I have the first leg planned, somewhat. Houston to W Texas--then on to the Nevada area. It is the trip from there to Seattle I am interested in seeing. Would like to see some of  Death Valley again but would like to stay in the High Country for the most part.
I will keep up with the thread and am awaiting suggestions.
PS--I like to keep off the FWY's unless the trip is a good drive. Top down time.
Blessings

I've been to Seattle several times and always enjoy it William.

This past summer the wife and I did a west coast thing. We went out and spent about 4 days in San Diego and came back home. Then later we fly into San Fran and spent a few days. From there we traveled up the west coast making several stops along the way. I'll have to say we both enjoyed Seattle the most. So I might suggest that if you or your wife haven't been to Seattle before you might plan a few days there. Lot's to see and do, plus some great seafood.

William if there is any way to take in the Columbia river gorge on your way to seattle or on your way back it will be a great drive I have been thru it several times and never got tired of seeing it.  But of all things be careful and have a safe and wonderful trip, PS the train trip should be a pleasure also I come back to L Rock from L A. on a train several yrs. ago when I was younger and it was interesting also.  Jim
