COLT .22

Guys:

Didn't Colt come out with a light-weight .22 semi-auto a few years back?  Seems like I saw an ad on the back of a American Rifleman magazine...with a father and son admiring the new piece.   :?

I know I've lost a few brain cells since then, but was I dreaming or did Colt pull the gun off the market?  Been looking for a new tin-can roller when this pistol came to mind...am I losing it?   :lol:

I'm not as knowledgable on this subject as I'd like to be, but to the best of my knowledge the last Colt .22 semi-auto was called the model 22. You might want to check over on "gunsamerica.com" if you type in item number 976409081 you should be able to see one. Hope this helps

Yup...that's it.  Unfortunately the politicians in my part of the world, don't think I'm repsonsible enough to handle this firearm...it's not on the politburo's "approved" list in Kalifornia.   :x  Guess I was born a hundred years too late!

I have one that I bought before I moved to this "great" state .  Originally had a 4.5 barrel.  Managed to pick up a 6 with slide.  Currently being rebarreled to 15 for Unlimited silhouette.  Should be fun.  Trigger down to around 2 pounds courtesy of Jim Henry.  Dan

Yes, colt did make a lightwieght .22 auto a few years back. I believe they made it from 1994 to 1998 or 99. It was similar to the old high standard duramatic. It had several things in common with the HS guns and the new berreta Neos. It was a striker fired gun, and used a large allen head screw to connect the frame to the barrel.
Incidentally, I just saw the add you are talking about in an american rifleman from about a year or so ago I got from a good friend.
It was Doug Koenig (Action Shooter, I believe) and his 5 year old son. Having a 5 year old son myself, It made me feel pretty good to know I'm not the only one introducing a young son to firearms in today's america.
And it was an NRA or Safety Foundation Advertisement, not a colt promo.

i have one of those, in stainless steel, has fixed sights, and something like a 4.5inch bull barrel.  accurate enough, two 10 round clips in plastic case, instruction manual and an allen wrench to take it down.

yes, i think it came in a deluxe or target version, with adjustable sights.

i use mine for plinking and carrying in the woods in case of  feraldogs, etc.

the striker and slide have two springs, one on top of the other, to operate the mechanisms.  the company is called colt arms or some such.  don't know if parts are available or not.   its pretty easy to take down and clean.

fun little gun, but it doesn't have the heft and feel of a Woodsman.

I just stumbled across a used target model at a gun show.  The guy wanted $400+ bucks for it.  Waaay too much money for me for a gun of this type...even if they are nearly impossible to find in CA.

Guess I'll keep looking.  Maybe I'll take another look a the S&W 22A or a Neo.  Just need a fun gun.
