I have an old Pedersoli Upland Game SxS 12 gauge kit gun from the late 70's. This little gun is very light, being designed for light loads of small shot intended for rabbits, squirrels, quail, doves, pheasants...etc. It has a strait stock English configuration with cut checkering. I did not build the gun, I found it for sale used in Ft Collins at Cache La Poudre Rifle Works. The builder used a plumb brown finish for the barrels. I installed a swivel sling on the gun and I have taken it upland game hunting many many times. It is light, fast handling and patterns beautifully out to 35 yards. The barrels are a bit tight so even though it is stamped as a 12 gauge, I use 13 gauge wads in the gun. The barrels are both cylinder bore...no choke system.
I would highly reccomend the Pedersoli product-line. I own several of their rifles and this smooth bore SxS. I have used Pedesoli's to take many game animals from the majestic elk to the little erratic squirrel; I have also won more than a few shooting contests at the rondies with a Perdersoli in my hands.
This last weekend I stalked elk in the Colorado Rockies during our Blackpowder Season and I had a .50 calibre Pedersoli Alamo Rifle in my hands...light quick and a strait shooter. I just need to get a bit closer...there's still this weekend yet.
I have an original 1850's Belgium double and my little Pedersoli Upland Game could be that gun's twin.
If the Pedersoli that you are considering is used and was taken care of by the previous owner...you will not be disapointed.
Enjoy.
