Well I finaly managed to getting around to ordering the parts for my CVA mountain rifle clean up project. They did not have a Ram rod, so Im just gonna have to live with the ugly black one till I can find some kind of wooden replacement. I got two thimbles and 2 wedge pins on the way. These are the last parts I need so I can fire off the sabot round in the gun and finish cleaning the barrel. The rest of the gun is almost ready. I had to drill out the old trigger guard screw that was rusted and snapped off in the stock. I drilled it out and re-filled it with epoxy (that I got from work :grin: ) and dyed brown. Im just gonna stop in at Home depot and find a suitable replacement. I used some more dyed epoxy to fill in some of the screw holes that felt like they were striping a bit. Now all are nice and tight. Im leaving the barrel in the "white" so to speak. Really it has a brownish patina which looks rather nice. I bought a replacement nipple and nipple wrench. I had to readjust the set triggers because for some reason I could not get the hammer to cock. Then I noticed by turning the screw allowed me to do so. I dont know how the screw backed out (maybe when I was scrubbing the heck outta the trigger group,) but I have it set so that its working right. I had polished the trigger guard (which was also rusting) to an in the whit silver. The buttplate as well. I think Ill leave it that way rather than re-blue it. I also fixed the rear sight. It had one side higher than the other, so I ground it even and deepend the notch. I think it might be moot though. Please forgive me folks but Im thinking of putting fiber optic sites on or at least a peep. My eyesight is not very good (despite my only being 24,) and that front sight is just way to small for me to see well. When I finaly get her shot off and cleaned I will report to you how the finished product worked.
