Laser Designator (?)
« on: October 11, 2012, 06:38:37 AM »
What the heck is a "laser designator" ?   It looks like a highpowered (expensive) green laser flashlight.  What is it used for?  Is it some kind of laser sight?
Vote them all out, EVERY election!

Does anyone remember the scene from "Quigley Down Under" showing the aborigines lined up on the skyline as far as you could see?   That needs to be US!

it used to mark a target for a weapons system. They shine the lazer on a target and the bombs magicaly go to the light.

Set the right PRF and...

But I think that you're talking about the Laser Genetics products.  They are essentially a columinated (sp) high intensity green LED flashlight.  They are used to shine a long distance narrow beam of light on animals for predator hunting at night. The green light is outside the range that the animals can see so they are oblivious to it while the human eye is particularly sensitive to it.
